Is the public awakening to GMOs? Is the tipping point finally happening?
About 90% of crops that are genetically modified have been done so to withstand being sprayed with harsh herbicides (specifically Roundup).
The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer declared glyphosate (the main ingredient in Roundup) as “probably carcinogenic to humans”.
Research has shown that Roundup itself is more toxic than glyphosate alone.
The same companies that produce genetically modified seeds also produce the same herbicides that the seeds are resistant to.
The bulk of GMO products on the market offer no benefit to the consumer.
Genetically modified foods currently on the market include corn, soy, canola, cotton (in the form of cottonseed oil), alfalfa, Hawaiian papaya, sugar beets, zucchini and yellow summer squash. Most animal products come from animals that are force fed lots of GMO feed with higher concentrations of Roundup. Honey, when tested, has been found to have glyphosate in it. GMO products approved for consumption, but are not on the market yet are salmon, pineapples, apples, and potatoes. GMOs can also be found in food enzymes, vitamins and wine (GMO yeast).
