HAWAII BANS GMO FOOD & CROPS – Anti GMO / Monsanto Spreading Across The World

Unlike Kauai, which struggled – but failed – to ban GMO crops, the Big Island of Hawaii is doing exactly that.

This week, the Hawaii County Council passed a bill that prohibits biotech companies from operating on the Big Island.
Violators will be fined 00 a day.

Passed in a 6-3 vote, it exempts the 200-plus papaya farms on the island – most of which are planted with GMO trees. Another version of the bill would also have banned GMO papayas and sent violators to jail instead of being fined.

GMO-Free Hawaii is thrilled:

The governing council for Hawaii (or Big) Island Tuesday banned biotech companies from operating on the island while barring growth of genetically modified organisms.

The Hawaii County Council approved Bill 113 by a vote of 6-3, which would mandate a possible 30 days in jail and up to a ,000 fine for any violator of the ban on growing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) on Big Island, officially known as Hawaii Island, the largest and southernmost of the Hawaiian state.

The bill also keeps out biotech giants like Monsanto, Dow and BASF, which have operations on other Hawaiian islands. One of them, Kauai, recently advanced its own legislation that increases regulation of biotech companies there.

The large papaya industry, with around 200 farms on Big Island, would be exempt from the bill, which was supported over a competing bill that that would have subjected papayas to the rules.
eco-friendly, diversified farming?”

GMO labeling, which was interpreted as “consumers have a right to know what’s in their food.”

The statistics and presentation of the dangers are fine, and desperately needed (there are few studies out here in public), for sure. However, the article doesn’t go real in-depth as to why the GMO is both “nutritionally dead, highly toxic”, and so on. Therefore, I go a bit more in-depth, and explore some of the unstated truths which might facilitate more awakenings; share this with people in your contacts , your friends, and family…
[Note: although the quoted article and the info below mention GMO corn in particular, the implications are shared by virtually all other GMO crops and their by-products. I assume the focus upon (see article cited above) corn is because it is perhaps the most ubiquitous of the US GMO poisons…]

Keep in mind that more than 95%+ of our current [US] corn production is GMO, and that it is in virtually ALL processed foods containing ‘corn’, as well as the myriad corn components found in nearly everything, like: corn syrup [ and solids], corn oils, corn sugar, corn starch, fructose, high-fructose, corn sweeteners, and so on….and on…
Look at your food labels. It’s in almost everything, and in virtually all our meats, eggs, and poultry as well, because all our livestock and animals are fed GMO corn (yup, ‘poison by proxy’). This has serious heath consequences; What this means is that not only are we being robbed of nutritive value by eating this ‘food-like product’ (and byproducts), but, we are also adding to our toxic load by these contaminants (see charts in the cited article, above); it’s a double-edged sword–a no-win scenario.

consumer groups and environmentalists. Why? Taylor used to be vice president for Monsanto, a multinational interested in marketing genetically modified (GM) food. It was during his term that GMO’s were approved in the US without undergoing tests to determine if they were safe for human consumption. The danger of GMO’s

The question of whether or not genetically modified foods (GMO’s) are safe for human consumption is an ongoing debate that does not seem to see any resolution except in the arena of public opinion. Due to lack of labeling, Americans are still left at a loss as to whether or not what is on the table is genetically modified. This lack of information makes the avoiding and tracking of GM foods an exercise in futility. Below are just some of the food products popularly identified to be genetically modified:
