John Kohler on GMO’s cross pollinating with ORGANIC crops. GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organisms and is not the same thing as hybridization. John Kohler is fully against GMO crops. GMO crops are two (or more) species that are unnaturally cross bred. The companies, like Monsanto and DuPont, that endorse GMO claim that there are no consequences of consuming GMO foods. However, there are no long term studies that suggest that consuming GMO foods are safe. That is why we should be hesitant of consuming these foods and the possible consequences they might potentially posses.
When growing your own garden, it is important to choose the most organic and most natural plants to grow the most nutritious foods. By growing your own food, you automatically avoid many GMO ingredients found in most processed foods. Buying organic seeds from a certified organic farmer is also a good idea for growing NON GMO foods in your garden.
Organic crops are all, by law, NON GMO. However, this does not mean that the plants are NON GMO. GMO plants can actually cross pollinate with NON GMO/ORGANIC crops!
